Controls Questions
You may be asked to explain how to use some of the auxiliary controls within the car. These controls are important to know how to use and when you need to use them.
Horn
Q - Show me how you would check that the horn is working properly.
A - Simply press the horn and it will work
(This should be done off road)
Head Restraint
Q - Tell me how you should have your head restraint set and how you wold adjust it.
A - The head restraint should be set so that the ridged part of the restraint is level with your eyes are top of your ears, show how you would adjust it using the release button under the head restraint.
Washer Wipers
Q - Show me how you would clean the front window using the washer wipers.
A - Pull the windscreen wiper stalk towards you, the ignition needs to be on but don't start the engine, this will put water onto the front windscreen and the wipers will wipe the screen several time to clean the windscreen.
Demister Controls
Q - Show me how you would set the demister controls to clear the front and rear windows.
A - Show how you would set the dials, the first dial would need to be set to the front windscreen, the second dial is for the air power and the third dial is for temperature. To clear the back window press the button below the temperature setting, this will clear the rear window.
Power Steering
Q - Show/explain how you would check that your power steering is working properly before staring a journey.
A - If you apply slight pressure to the steering when the engine is off the steering will be rigid, once you have started the engine this will loosen the steering .
